In my magazine I am going to take my initial design from the billboard magazine as I like the way it is set out.

In this issue of billboard Taylor Swift is in front of the magazine title, the name and subtitle however are infront of her but are at the bottom of the page so are not obstructing her. The background is a red curtain, again coloured. The outfit she wears is black and her hair it up it has a very minimulistic look. All the words on he page are to her left. The title 'billboard' is at the top of the page but is a couple centermeters down from the top, it goes from one side to the other with no spaces at the edge. The lower case b, o and d are coloured in. The b is coloured red maybe to match the background colour and the o and the d are yellow to maybe contrast ther background, however some of the text on the page is also yello so these colours match. At the top of the magazine is black and the colour of the dress is black so these colours match. The colours of some text is white and the colour of the title is white so again they match.
I do think however there are a lot of negatives in this front cover. Such being that the pose of Taylor Swift looks very forcd and fake, she looks uncomfortable and not very happy, my magazine being a pop magazine I want to make it more cheerful and I want my model to look happy and approachable. With the model being in a short, black, lowcut dress it gives the impression that she is intending on looking sexy and firece with the additions to a red background which simbolises sex. But I think the picture has failed to portray this message as it does not look very professional and asIi said it looks forced  and does not represent the sex symbol it was intended for. To make my own project better I would change the pose and maybe the clothing. I would also change the background because at the moment it is like an old fashioned theatre and does not relate to pop, as pop is more upbeat and  more joyful.

This front cover has the model in the middle of the page with writing either side of her, the title of the magazine is also directly in the middle like everything is central. The name of the artist is bold and almost centeral, it is just below her clevage as to be provocative.
This picture portrays more of the direction that I want to take. The picture itself is bold and the attention is pointed at the 'M' in her hand, almost like a cage but the 'M' and the colour of her hair are very similar so she could be a part of the cage or she could be behind the bars of a cage because she is just a product created by her mangement, a cage is a very strong image and comparason to make. The hands holding the 'M' are wearing some sort of rubber latex which is directly linked to bondage, so she could be portraying again like Taylor Swift intended to do a sex symbol but I believe unlike Taylor, Miley did pull this off.
The picture comes to aproximatley her waist so i will take this into consideration when taking my photographs. The facial expressions are very bold and are quite serious, I am not sure which one would be most appropriate at the time so I will take a variety of pictures including happy, sad and serious facial expressions. The hair is down and is quite dark like her make up.

From my research I have come up with a criteria that I want my photograph and model to look like. My criteria consists of the hair being down, the photograph being to approximatly from her wait and above, the outfit will be black and have some kind of sexy representation. If the models hair is dark she will have dark make up, if the models hair is light she will have very suttle make up.
